HOW CAN I PLAY THE TRAFFIC SNAKE GAME IN MY SCHOOL?

You can join the TSG campaign simply by signing up your school here: http://www.trafficsnakegame.eu/unitedkingdom/sign-up/. Shortly after you register we will approve your school and send you your log in details and an email describing how to play the game and which are the next steps. In order to send you the materials you need to play we simply ask to let us know how many pupils and classes will be playing, and when you are planning to play.

If you have any questions prior to your registration please contact Ioanna Moscholidou (ioanna.moscholidou@wyg.com) or Sarah Wixey (sarah.wixey@wyg.com).

WHO CAN ORGANISE THE TRAFFIC SNAKE GAME?

Only primary schools can play the game, but local authorities, educational bodies, local organisations etc. can take up different roles in the organisation and dissemination of the campaign. Interested in becoming a local partner? Please contact Ioanna Moscholidou (ioanna.moscholidou@wyg.com) or Sarah Wixey (sarah.wixey@wyg.com).

WHY DO THE SCHOOLS HAVE TO SET A TARGET?

Each school sets its own target. This is important to communicate to the pupils and to explore what level of change is possible on a school level. Of course it’s important to set a realistic target, so that pupils and teachers feel they are achieving change.

WHEN AND HOW MUCH DATA DOES A SCHOOL NEEDS TO COLLECT? HOW WILL THIS DATA BE COLLECTED?

Participating schools should collect travel data before, during and after the campaign. The before measurement takes place on a single day two weeks before you play the campaign, and the after measurement on a single day two weeks after you complete the campaign. You will also need to collect travel data every day during the two weeks you play the campaign. At the end of the campaign each school should have travel data for a 12 days. This data is collected per class via a hands-up survey.

HOW TO PLAY TSG 2.0?

Schools can play a different version of Traffic Snake Game, TSG 2.0, using a Smartboard (digital schoolboard) or a standard computer. Physical materials (banner and dots) are no longer needed, which reduces the costs of playing the game.  To access the Smartboard view, you should:
1. Log in as ‘school’
2. Choose a measurement tab (i.e. before measurement, campaign week 1, campaign week 2, or after measurement)
3. Click on Smartboard view and select the class whose data you are planning to uploadTSG-2.0-1-768x361

WHERE DO WE SEE THE GAMIFICATION SCORING CONCEPT?

TSG 2.0 also includes a gamification scoring concept, which is attractive for both children and teachers. This is visible on the school pages as a cityscape header. The more sustainable trips a school logs, the cleaner the city will become through the course of the campaign.
To experience this, you should:
1. Log-in as a ‘school’
2. Fill in at least one measurement (starting with the before measurement)
The more sustainable trips you log, the header at the top of your school page will change.
Please note that this header is only visible when you are logged in. This header is not visible on your public school page.Knipsel-3-300x219

PLAYING TSG AGAIN IN YOUR SCHOOL?

Schools have the option to play the TSG more than once, by signing up for a new edition. In order to do this, you just need to select ‘we played before and want to play again’ on the TSG sign-up page: http://www.trafficsnakegame.eu/unitedkingdom/sign-up/. You can then choose your school from the drop-down list and sign-up for a new edition. If you are playing again you can compare your current school results with the results of the previous year(s) on your school’s page.

HOW TO GET A NEW PASSWORD

If you have forgotten or want to change your password, you can click on the log in option at the top right of the page, and then click on “Lost your password?” right below the password entry box. Then simply enter your email address or username and you will receive a link to create a new password via email!
